VALLEY VOICES NEWSLETTER # 45
July 14, 2006
Crunch time arrived a lot sooner than we expected - and wanted.
We were quite surprised to get an OMB hearing so quickly.
There is a sense of immediacy in the air and the V V R A has to move very quickly.
Here’s the lay of the land.
It’s quite simple: We need experts to represent us at the OMB hearings. Expert opinions cost money. The more money we have, the more experts we can afford and the stronger our case. The more money we have, the more issues the experts might find. If we have to compromise on our experts, our case is weakened.
And that’s where you come in. Our Board of Directors (BoD) is negotiating with several experts but its hands are tied until they know for sure just how strongly committed the membership is to continuing the fight against SVA.
It’s quite simple: We have an August 4 target of roughly $30,000. Thanks to all our fundraising activities and pledges received we are getting there.
If every family gave the Board $100.00 we could secure our experts
for the August 18 pre hearing Conference.
Can’t afford $100.00? Give what you can. Want to give more? Please!
In the next few days members will be contacted by a Director, by mail and personally. Please show your commitment to the community and the kind of community we want by supporting the BoD with your money. It’s working on your behalf.
Your BoD finds this whole SVA affair very stressful. It will not and can not afford to take on much more in the way of personal financial pressure.
If the members and the community aren’t financially committed, the exercise comes to a halt. It’s quite simple.
