A Community Advisory From Valley Voices
October 15, 2007
Alnwick/Haldimand (A/H) Council is considering a by-law that will allow the use of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) on Township roads. The Board of Directors of Valley Voices thought these meetings might be of interest to members of the community who have opinions on the issue or who might like to learn more.
October 16 – The A/H All Terrain Vehicles committee will make a presentation to Council. This meeting will be ‘in camera’. (Closed to the public.) Council has taken the position that they can meet with committees ‘in camera’ when discussing matters of litigation or potential litigation.
October 25 – The County Forestry Advisory Committee is meeting at 7:00 pm at the Fenella Community Hall to hear the legal opinions of County lawyer Paul Peterson and the advice of Oak Ridge Moraine Act ‘architect’, Fred Johnson, re ATVs on Township roads in Alnwick/Haldimand. The public may attend but may NOT participate in the meeting.
October 25 - 7:00 pm. A sub-committee of Northumberland County Works will host a meeting at the Keeler Centre, in Colborne, to discuss legislating permission to allow the on-road usage of ATVs in Cramahe. The sub-committee is collecting information from interested parties. The sub-committee wants the public to be specific about why they support or oppose the idea of ATVs on roads. The public are invited to attend AND to participate in the meeting.
