Re: The proposed 140 acre gravel pit
between Shelter Valley Road and Turk Road, just east of Vernonville

Maybe you will hear the digging equipment and the stone crushing machines,
or, maybe you won't.

Maybe hundreds of trucks will drive past your front door year round,
13 hours a day, 6 days a week, or, maybe they won't.

Maybe with a heavy load of gravel, those trucks will speed past your child
as they wait for the school bus, but, maybe they won't.

Maybe on that icy winter morning that great big gravel truck
will be able to stop, and God help us, maybe they won't.

Maybe you'll awake to the sweet song of the birds in the trees,
or, sadly maybe you won't.

Maybe you'll be able to walk your dog or ride your horse on the roads,
or, maybe you won't.

Maybe they'll tax us for road repair and upgrades, or, maybe they won't.

Maybe you'll be able to sell your house for what it's worth, and maybe you won't.

Maybe there won't be a gravel pit.
Shall we just wait and see what happens?

If this pit goes through, those trucks will travel
on whatever roads will get them where they are going
... your road, my road, any road.

We must band together to stop this ...

Many voices raised together are very loud and powerful.

Volunteer your help if you can, we need it and would welcome it.

Maybe someone else will make this go away? Maybe they won't.

Maybe we should do something about this? They really hope that we don't.
