VALLEY VOICES URGENTLY REQUIRES A RESPONSE
Valley Voices’ Board of Directors met on Sunday, October 29, 2006 to receive the report of our legal counsel, Virginia MacLean, about the upcoming OMB hearing.
Based on her advice and the advice of our expert witnesses that we will not succeed in stopping the rezoning of the pit property, your Board has agreed that it should instruct Valley Voices’ legal counsel to concede that the property will be rezoned for aggregate extraction and to negotiate the remaining 21 issues and specific conditions of the pit to Valley Voices’ satisfaction.
That would require acceptance by Shelter Valley Aggregates of a site plan proposed by our hydrology and engineering expert Garry Hunter that will minimize the adverse effects of the pit on nearby residents.
Your Board of Directors is of the opinion this is the best course of action for us to take in the interest of all residents and VV members.
To do otherwise is beyond Valley Voices’ current financial resources.
As this is a substantial change of direction we are asking our members to approve this course of action.
This is not the end of our fight. There are still many issues that the OMB will have to decide. For example, a haul route will still have to be approved even if a license is issued by the OMB for this pit.
PLEASE RESPOND BY EMAIL REPLY BY MONDAY OCTOBER 30 AT 10:00 PM.
A SIMPLE “YES” or “NO”, PLUS YOUR NAME. THAT’S ALL WE NEED.
YOUR BOARD MUST INSTRUCT ITS LEGAL COUNSEL ON TUESDAY MORNING.
